How many dwarf puffers in a 55 gallon tank?

I've seen plenty of opinions on how many dwarf puffers can be kept in a 2 or a 5 or a 10 gallon tank, but suppose I wanted to have a bunch of them in a well planted, 55 gallon tank with lots of caves? If the line of sight is short and there's plenty of places to hide, wouldn't it be possible to have a lot of these little fellows?

  1. in a 55 you think you can have alot but not really id say 5 max there is a limit for these fishbecause there very territorial so 4 or 6
  2. 2 at the most because they can be teritorial....and any more and they will kill each other
  3. I usually feel pretty good about three for every ten gallons, so I think you could get away with 15-20 of them, no problem. Just make sure you have at least two females for each male. Also, be prepared in case they end up mating. I would not be surprised if you ended up doubling your population with that set up.
  4. you could have a bunch of them. I kept 4 in my 38 gallon. I could have kept more if I wanted to. They stay so small (<1"), provided there's enough hunting and hiding terriroties for them, I wouldn't be suprised if you could get away with up to 30 of them in a tank of that size.
